Mohun Bagan promises to clear the quotas of former players after the AIFF fine

KOLKATA: I-League heavyweights Mohun Bagan promised on Sunday to clear the quotas of his former players after Football Federation of all India The disciplinary committee fined them with Rs 3 lakh for lack of salary payment to four of their former soccer players.

The green and brown brigade, which are the main candidates to win this season's I-League, have been ordered to eliminate the fees and pay the penalty amount within a fortnight.

We would like to mention strongly that Mohun Bagan has never breached his commitments to players and coaches and we are committed to fulfilling the contract signed with all of them. In addition, we would like to ensure that the payments due would be made within the stipulated time mentioned by the AIFF Disciplinary Committee, Mohun Bagan said in a statement.

Mohun Bagan has been asked to pay the duo of midfielders Kerala Blasters of Raju Gaikwad and Darren Caldeira Rs 11 lakh and Rs 8.70.601 respectively. Abhishek Ambekar (currently left-back of East Bengal) and former goalkeeper Ricardo Cardoze, who do not belong to any club, have received fees of Rs 5.60,000 and Rs 7.60,000 respectively since 2017.

We do not want the focus of our team to be distracted at this crucial juncture of the current Hero I-League 2019-20 and ask all stakeholders to avoid any unnecessary controversy, the club added.
