2 dead, 7 injured after the bridge beam under construction collapses in West Bengal
MALDA: A bridge under construction collapsed on Sunday night, killing two and wounding seven others, police said.
The incident occurred when a beam from the second Farakka bridge struck around 8 pm, they said, adding that more workers could get trapped under the rubble.
Two workers died, while another seven are under treatment in it, said a police officer. It is said that the condition of the seven people is critical, he said.
The staff of the disaster management department, Malda, is carrying out the rescue operation, the officer said.
The cause of the accident has not yet been determined, police said.
