Kiren Rijiju runs with ITBP staff as part of the Fit India Movement

AULI (Uttarakhand): Minister of Sports of the Union Kiren Rijiju on Sunday he ran with Indo-Tibetan border police ( ITBP ) personnel as part of the Fit India Movement and congratulated the winners.

The minister is on a visit to Auli to support ITBP Mountaineering And Skiing Institute to promote winter sports in the country.

Auli is a mountain station located in the Garhwal region of Uttarakhand.

On Saturday, the minister also rode a snow scooter with the ITBP jawans.

The Mountaineering and Ski Institute, one of the country's leading institutions for sports, was established in 1973 as the Winter Force Wing. In 1990, it was renamed the Mountaineering and Ski Institute, according to its website.

The institute provides specialized training to members of the force in mountaineering, skiing, high altitude survival, rescue and rafting operations.

The students of this institute have represented India in Winter Asiad, World Police Games, and their rafters have set a record in River Rafting in Alaknanda-Ganga from Vishnu Prayag to Rishikesh through turbulent and rapid waters on a 265 km stretch in 1994. The 'famous mountaineers' of the Force have been trained in this Institute.
