Nirbhaya case: convict Vinay Sharma moves SC challenging the rejection of the president's statement of mercy

One of four death row in the case of rape and group murder of Nirbhaya, approached the Supreme On Tuesday, the court challenged the rejection of his petition for mercy by the president.

Sharma, through his counsel A , has also sought of death sentence to life imprisonment.

On February 1, President Ram Nath Kovind had rejected Vinay's petition for clemency.

The trial on January 31 was suspended until further orders for execution of the four convicted in the case: Mukesh Kumar Singh (32), Pawan Gupta (25), Vinay Kumar Sharma (26) and Akshay Kumar (31), who are lodged in the jail of Tihar.
