When asked to pay 5 rupees for pakoras, two shot at the seller in Bihar

PATNA: Is the humble 'pakora' more expensive than a bullet? Two young people can agree because they decided to shoot two expensive bullets instead of paying Rs 5 for the local delicacy, leaving the pakora seller and his brother injured.

It all started on Monday night when two young people refused to pay the insignificant amount after receiving a plate of pakauras from a roadside vendor in a village in the Naya Bhojpur area of Buxar. An altercation followed, which was resolved after the intervention of local residents.

But the two young men returned on Tuesday and shot the seller, Kanhaiya Kesari (35), in the leg. His brother Pintu was also shot in the leg when he came to the rescue of his brother. Both were referred to PMCH in Patna.

The victims told police they were shot by two young men, Chunnu Yadav and Golu Yadav, for Rs 5 for the pakaura they had eaten on Monday night. Each bullet costs something between Rs 100 and Rs 200. Therefore, they spent around Rs 500 but refused to pay Rs 5 to the vendors, Dumraon SDPO K K Singh told this newspaper by phone.

The SHO of Naya Bhojpur's outpost, said the defendant, who was in his 20s, has no criminal record. “They are escaping after the incident. The raids are underway, but they have not stopped yet, ”added the SHO. The SHO attributed the crime streak in the area to the easy availability of illegal weapons at scrap prices.
