Uttar Pradesh: Kidnapped to marry, undergraduate student burned alive by young people
LUCKNOW: The missing 21-year-old undergraduate student whose unrecognizable and severely burned body was found on Saturday night from Harchandpur in Rae Bareli, three kilometers from her university and identified on Sunday, had been kidnapped by forced marriage and set on fire for resisting, his father alleged in his complaint to the police on Monday.
Family members and relatives organized a protest keeping their body on the main road of Bachhrawan. The girl, a Bachhrawan resident, had gone to college on Saturday, but her body was recovered from bushes in the Harchandpur area of the Lucknow-Allahabad road.
The girl's father accused an Atul Gupta (25), saying he had proposed to his daughter a few days ago while she was returning from university. Despite the clear rejection of my daughter, Atul misbehaved with her on many occasions, after which we took care of the matter with her family, but 15 days ago she threatened her with serious consequences if she did not marry him, he claimed.
When acting on the complaint, Rae Bareli police filed an FIR against Atul Gupta on charges of murder, concealment of evidence, criminal intimidation and injuries. SP, Rae Bareli, Swapnil Mamgain told TOI: “Atul, a distant relative of the girl, has been caught but denies the charges. He runs a fabric store in Shivratanganj, Amethi. We have also arrested four other people and we are questioning them. ”
“The victim's post mortem report dismisses the rape and mentions burns as the cause of death. We will recreate the crime scene to determine the sequence of events since the kidnapping of a 21-year-old girl and her fire cannot be carried out by a single man, ”said Mamgain.
However, an informed source of the investigation said that the victim had told a friend to take her bag home and tell her parents that she had been kidnapped, but they did not report it to the police and complained a day later. .
