NIA teams arrest 3 Hizb de Shopian terrorists

SRINAGAR: National Research Agency teams () attacked several places in Kupwara and districts on Monday and arrested three ground workers (OGW) of the.

The raids took place after the arrest and interrogation of DSP Davinder Singh and three other Hizb terrorists on January 11, when Singh was helping Hizb terrorists leave the valley towards Jammu.

The three OGW arrested are Riyaz Ahmad Thakur of Drabgah in Shopian, Fazanan Dobi, brother of active terrorist Hizb Omar Dobi of Shopz, and Asif Magray, brother of another Hizb terrorist in Ganowpora in Shopian, official sources said.

Two NIA teams continued raids on Monday in the Kashmir Valley, including several houses in the village of Jagerpora. Sources said the NIA recovered laptops, two mobile phones, two pen drives and five passports from the home of a Javaid Ahmad Dar, a resident of Jagerpora in Kupwara.

However, the NIA team could not arrest BJP sarpanch, Tariq Mir from Maldarpora in Shopian, as he was fleeing, official sources said.

Police also arrested eleven young people from the villages of Karimabad and Kakapora, in the Pulwama district of southern Kashmir, when they threw stones at the army dwellers patrolling the area with stones on Sunday night. An official said the youth were arrested for questioning.
