Ashok Leyland becomes the third largest bus manufacturer in the world
CHENNAI Ashok Leyland Limited, the flagship of the Hinduja Group, reached the global rank No. 3 in the list of MHCV bus manufacturers for the 2019 calendar year, according to reports published by SIAM, OICA (International Organization of Automobile Builders) and IHS Markit.
Ashok Leyland has been the first to introduce power steering, air brakes, rear engine bus, India's first double decker and many more. The range includes a slew of innovative products which include the JanBus - world's first single step entry, front engine, fully flat floor bus; India's first hybrid CNG plug-in bus, Sunshine - a frontal crash protected, rollover compliant, aesthetically designed bus for school children, and the Circuit - India's first Electric bus, said the company in a statement.

The total number of buses sold by Ashok Leyland in CY 2019 stood at 23,100.
