More than 30 PAN crore linked with Aadhaar so far: Anurag Singh Thakur

NEW DELHI: As the date to link the PAN with Aadhaar has been extended for a year, the government He has linked more than Rs 30 million with the unique identification code, the state finance minister in Parliament said on Monday.

He said that the deadline for the linkage of PAN with Aadhaar has been extended further from December 31, 2019 to March 31, 2020.

As of January 27, 2020, a total of PAN are not linked to Aadhaar. The extension of the expiration date to link PAN with Aadhaar will benefit these PAN card holders as they gain additional time to link their PAN with Aadhaar, Thakur said in Parliament.

In addition, to ensure that confidential data is not leaked when managing organizations, the guidelines established by the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) are followed in this regard, he said.

Appropriate measures have also been taken under the provisions of the Income Tax Law, information technology and other applicable laws that maintain the confidentiality of data.

On being asked if the government also proposes to link all property-related transactions with Aadhaar to curb benami property and bring transparency, he said the due date for linking of PAN with Aadhaar is March 31, 2020.

He said that, according to the Income Tax Law (I-T), a person must quote PAN with respect to any sale or purchase of real estate for an amount greater than Rs 10 lakh or valued by the stamp valuation authority.

In a separate consultation on the PAN and the linking of the bank account, the Finance Minister He informed the house that approximately 85 percent of checking and savings accounts (CASA) are sown as of January 24, 2020.
