The third case of coronavirus tested positive in Kasargod de Kerala

(KERELA): In the third novel case reported in India, another Keralite student who returned from Wuhan University on Monday tested positive for the infection, said health minister K K Shailaja on Monday.

Shailaja, in a special mention at the assembly, said a third case has tested positive for Coronavirus and has been under isolation in the Kanhangad district of Kasargode and the condition of the young man, who was a student in Wuhan, is stable.

In a response to a question about updates on Coronavirus presented by opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala, the minister said: Before that, there were two positive cases, both medical students studying in Wuhan. They are in the Alappuzha and Thrissur Medical Universities and are recovering well. We hope that one more case becomes positive and there could be more.

At this time there are no medications for this, such as when the state was under Nipah and the attack of dengue. When we learned about the outbreak in Wuhan, we knew we had to take precautions since a good number of our students were studying in China. We move forward based on the guidelines suggested by the World Health Organizations and the ICMR. We are fully prepared to face the situation, Shailaja added.

She said that at this time there are 1,925 people under house observation and another 25 observed in isolation in several hospitals.

The challenge is to track people who came from China and we are doing it, said the minister.

The virus originated in Wuhan in December and has since spread to several cities around the world.

China has imposed quarantine and travel restrictions, affecting the movement of 56 million people in more than a dozen cities, amid fears that the transmission rate will accelerate as hundreds of millions of Chinese travel through the New Year Lunar.
