Assam Governmet assures people without coronavirus infection in the state

GUWAHATI: The government on Sunday allayed people's fears, according to media reports, of a person admitted to a hospital here with an infection.

Assam's family health and welfare minister said the person, who recently came, was admitted and hospitalized for suspected coronavirus infection.

He was kept in an isolation room and received treatment. He is still in the hospital and we are closely monitoring the situation, Hazarika said.

The young man, who comes from the district, was sent to GMCH after landing here at Lokopriya Bordoloi International Airport with flu-like symptoms.

In view of the news reports of a case of Coronavirus in Assam, we would like to clarify that the symptoms of the person admitted to GMCH with fever and rash are those of measles.

The person is under observation, a statement from the National Health Mission said.

In view of the coronavirus outbreak in China and India that reports the second case of a new coronavirus, the Airports Authority of India has taken special measures at the airport to control passengers.

On Friday, Hazarika had said that a team of 30 members of the state health department was put into service in lots of 10 at the airport to detect passengers for suspected coronavirus infection.
