Vidya Balan: Filmfare Awards occupies an important place in my life

It may be a little hard to believe, but Vidya Balan , which has a winning record Filmfare Awards at best Actress category three times in a row, had once cried because she had missed the telecast of the show on television. The actress relived those memories while addressing a press meet on Saturday, for the announcement of the 65th Amazon Filmfare Awards 2020, which will be held in Guwahati, Assam, on February 15. It will be the 65th edition of the award show & the first time since its inception that it will be held outside Mumbai. The award ceremony will be hosted by Karan Johar & Vicky Kaushal . “I was very fond of watching Filmfare Awards on TV. There was a time when the show would be telecast on the same day as it happened on the ground. My parents & I were stuck in terrible traffic in a cab, & I missed watching it that one year on TV. The next day, when I opened the newspaper, I saw the best moments captured in images. I was really upset & I cried because I had missed seeing all of that,” Vidya recalled with a laugh.

At the event, she also recounted what it felt like when she won her first Filmfare Award for the Best Actress for ' Paa '. “You imagine what it will be like to win the award & you rehearse your thank-you speech in your head, but that moment, when you actually win the award, is surreal. It’s such a special feeling because the award is an acknowledgement from the industry & from the audience of your work. And this statuette is so beautiful,” Vidya said, with a smile, quickly adding. “ Filmfare Awards hold an important place in my life. I met my husband Siddharth Roy Kapur for the first time, soon after I won my first ever award. We met backstage, & he was the first person I met after I won the award. A few years later, we got married to each other.”
