Newborn girl found abandoned in Mumbai
MUMBAI: A newborn girl was found abandoned outside a shop in the suburbs of Kurla at dawn on January 30, police said Sunday.
The store owner saw the newborn on Thursday morning, who informed the police, an official said, adding that she was rushed to a hospital in Kurla.
The official said that a man, who is believed to be a local resident, was captured by CCTV cameras keeping the girl on the steps of the store before leaving the place hurriedly.
The principal inspector of the Kurla police station, Dattatray Shinde, said that a case was registered under section 317 (exposure and abandonment of children under 12, by parents or the person taking care of it) against a person unidentified.
The girl is fine, he said.
