Shubman Gill breaks double century before the New Zealand test series

Christian Church Shubman gill He is expected to keep his place in the Indian test squad after scoring an undefeated 204 for Team A in the four-day game against New Zealand A on Friday.

Resuming on day four to 127 for two, India A reached 448 for three in her second inning with Gill scoring her second double century on an out-of-home tour (the first arrived in the West Indies last year).

Also among the races were Priyank Panchal (115 of 164) and Regular Test Hanuma Vihari , who remained undefeated with Gill in 100 of 113 balls.

Gill's 279 ball effort comprised 22 limits and four six. Vihari's rapid-fire century comprised 11 four and three six. He and Gill shared an undefeated position of 222 runs for the fourth wicket.

It was a much better batting effort by India A, as the pitch decreased in the Hagley Oval. The team, led by Vihari, made 216 in the first innings in which Gill was the top scorer with 83.

In response, New Zealand A had accumulated 562 by seven before declaring entries.

Mayank Agarwal, who will open with Rohit Sharma in the series of two tests against New Zealand later this month, had a forgettable start in the game when he went out to look for a duck in the two innings.

After a good double century, Gill will surely keep his place in the test squad. The 20-year-old was also part of the team in the local series against South Africa and Bangladesh, but did not get a game.

It is likely that Gill, who made his debut in India in the ODI series in New Zealand last year, heats the bench in the next series of tests with India having an opening pair set in Agarwal and Rohit.

The test squad will be announced soon. The first test of the two-game series begins in Wellington on February 21.
