The global spread of the coronavirus: where is it?
BEIJING: A virus similar to the SARS pathogen has more than 300 people in China and has spread worldwide since it emerged in a market in the central Chinese city of Wuhan.
On Sunday, China said more than 14,000 people have been infected by the novel.
Outside of mainland China, more than 100 infections have been reported in more than 20 countries. The Philippines reported on Sunday the first death from the virus outside of mainland China.
The World Health Organization has declared an international emergency because of the outbreak.
These are the places that have confirmed cases of the new coronavirus 2019:
As of Sunday, 14,380 people had been infected in China, mostly in and around Wuhan.
Most of the 304 who died were in that region, but officials have confirmed multiple deaths elsewhere, including in the capital. Beijing .
Twelve patients have been confirmed in Australia. Most of them arrived in the country from Wuhan or Hubei province.
The Cambodian Ministry of Health has so far reported a case, a 60-year-old man who arrived from Wuhan.
In Hong Kong, 14 people are known to have the disease.
Authorities confirmed the first case in Kerala, southern India, on Thursday. The woman, a student at Wuhan University, was isolated in a hospital.
The Ministry of Health of Japan reported three new cases on Saturday, bringing the number of infections in the country to 20, including two cases of transmission from person to person.
The new cases were three people who returned from Wuhan on flights chartered by the government.
Macao, a popular gaming center among tourists from mainland China, has confirmed seven cases.
Malaysia has confirmed eight cases, all Chinese citizens.
Nepal has reported a case so far: a man who came from Wuhan.
The Philippines reported on Sunday the first death from the virus outside of mainland China. Authorities said the 44-year-old Chinese man had arrived in the Philippines from Wuhan.
The first case detected in the Philippines was a 38-year-old woman who had arrived with that man from Wuhan. She is recovering in the hospital.
Singapore announced two new infections on Saturday, raising the city-state total to 18.
South Korea has so far confirmed 15 cases.
The last three cases were reported on Sunday. They include a South Korean man in his 20s who returned from Wuhan on a rented plane on Friday, a 40-year-old Chinese woman whose husband was diagnosed with the virus on Saturday and a 43-year-old South Korean man who returned from Wuhan on January 20 .
Sri Lanka has confirmed an infection: a 43-year-old Chinese tourist from Hubei province.
Taiwan has discovered 10 cases so far, including two 70-year-old Chinese women who arrived in the country as part of a group of tourists.
Thailand has announced 19 confirmed infections.
Vietnam reported one more case on Saturday, bringing the total in the country to six. State media said the last case is that of a 25-year-old hotel receptionist in the central province of Khanh Hoa.
Canada has confirmed four cases.
The United States has confirmed eight cases: three in California, two in Illinois, one in Arizona , one in Massachusetts and one in the state of Washington.
British health officials announced Friday that two people had tested positive for the virus, the country's first confirmed cases.
A tourist from Wuhan tested positive for the virus on Wednesday and was treated in isolation in the hospital, authorities said.
There are six known cases in France, the first European country affected.
Germany now has seven confirmed cases.
Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte announced the first two cases in his country on Thursday: two Chinese tourists who recently arrived in Italy.
Russia said Friday that two Chinese citizens tested positive in the country's first cases.
Sweden announced its first case on Friday, a woman whose nationality has not been disclosed.
Spain reported its first case on Friday night in a man on the island of La Gomera in the Canary Islands. He was one of five isolated people after coming into contact with a German man with the disease.
UAE health officials confirmed that a four-member Chinese family tested positive for the virus after arriving from Wuhan.
