Prime Minister Modi will attend the rally in Kokrajhar in Assam on February 7
GUWAHATI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will come next Friday to attend a public demonstration in Kokrajhar organized to celebrate the recently signed one between the center, the state and nine Bodo organizations, including four rebel NDFB factions.
Himanta Biswa Sarma, who inspected the place in Dotoma in Kokrajhar, said: The Prime Minister's visit here on February 7 is confirmed.
The Prime Minister's first scheduled visit to Assam along with his Japanese counterpart, Shinzo Abe, for the annual bilateral summit on December 15 and 16 was postponed after it became violent in the state.
He had also warned that if Modi attended the opening of the third edition of in Guwahati on January 10, he would protest.
The Assam government had invited the prime minister to open the games, but then the government said the PMO had not responded.
It is likely that Interior Minister Amit Shah will also accompany Modi to the rally in Kokrajhar, which is important for BJP, as he tries to put his first stamp on which it will be held in April.
Sarma said: “The election will take place only for the 40 existing seats. The expansion to 60 seats will take at least six months and we don't want to delay the elections for that. ”
