Samridh and Akbar lead in the BGA West Bengal State Championship

KOLKATA: Samridh Sen & Akbar Khan took part in the first round leadership in the BGA West Bengal State Championship on Saturday. Both golfers obtained identical scores of one over 73, which is two shots better than the third place, Aryan Agarwal.

The BGA West Bengal State Championship is the inaugural event of the third edition of the Eastern India Amateur Feeder Tour. A total of 88 golfers took part in the opening tournament of the season.

While 19 year-old Samridh, who has been one of India's leading amateurs in the last few years, drained a few long putts to continue in the same vein as in the previous season, Akbar Khan showcased superior long game skill.

In the amateur middle class, Ravindra Vani fired a round of 80 to take the lead of a blow on Col SK Tiwary . In the seniors section, Colonel Kapil Sharma took control with a brilliant round of 78, while Cold Rajeev Chauhan ranks second with a round of 81. In the super-majors, Subroto Barua beat his opponents with his 93 for lead the category by three strokes

Sinjini Mukherjee leads the ladies category after returning a 78 card, while Nikita Biswas breathes through her neck as she crawls with just one punch.

The golfers in the junior section also proved their mettle as they put up a commendable effort & did their best to match the standard of their senior counterparts. Shaurya Bhatnagar stood out among them with his round of 88.
