Disbursement of Rs 22,000 cr for the renewable energy and energy sector in fiscal year 21: FM
NEW DELHI: The Center has proposed a disbursement of Rs 22,000 crore for the renewable energy and energy sector by 2020-21, the finance minister said on Saturday.
In her second Budget presentation, the finance minister said the Center proposed that discoms replace conventional meters with prepaid smart meters and that consumers have the option of choosing electricity providers.
State governments must replace conventional electricity meters with prepaid smart meters in three years, he said.
The finance minister also said that the natural gas pipeline network will be expanded to 27,000 km from more than 16,000 km now and new reforms will be undertaken for the transparent discovery of prices for natural gas.
