'Beti bachao, beti padhao' has given enormous results: Nirmala Sitharaman

NEW DELHI: presenting the Union Budget On Saturday, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman praised the results obtained by the 'Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao' scheme of the Indian government and said that the gross enrollment rate of girls at all levels of education is higher than the of the kids.

To give a boost to women, the government has allocated Rs 28.6 billion rupees for programs, specifically for women, Sitharaman said.

He has also proposed to provide Rs 35.6 billion rupees for nutrition-related programs for 2020-21.

In another set of announcements, Sitharaman said that 99.3 billion rupees were allocated for the education sector and 3 billion rupees for skill development for the next fiscal year, adding that 150 higher institutes will begin training apprentices for category students general.
