Government sets agricultural credit target at Rs 15 lakh cr for fiscal year 21: Nirmala Sitharaman

NEW DELHI: The government set the objective of agricultural credit at Rs 15 lakh crore for fiscal year 2020-21, the finance minister said on Saturday.

In his second budget presentation, the finance minister also said the refinancing scheme will be expanded.

He said he will establish Rail in public-private partnership (PPP) mode so that the cold supply chain transports perishable products.

In addition, Krishi Udaan will be launched by the civil ministry to transport agricultural products to national and international destinations.

Live plus The government will also promote a horticultural crop in a cluster, he said, adding that horticulture with 311 MT exceeded food grains.

He also said that the government will take measures to conserve marine fisheries, and that self-help groups will be able to establish agricultural storage facilities in the villages.
