The Finance Minister proposes Kisan Rail in PPP mode so that the cold supply chain transports perishable products
NEW DELHI: The Finance Minister on Saturday proposed establishing the railroad in public-private partnership (PPP) mode so that the cold chain transports perishable goods.
In presenting its second Union budget, Sitharaman announced a series of measures for the benefit of farmers.
To build a national cold supply chain without interruptions for perishable products, Kisan Rail will be installed through the PPP model so that perishable products can be transported quickly, he said.
He also said that refrigerated vans on freight and express mail trains selected to transport perishable cargo were also on the anvil.
