Agricultural markets must be liberalized: Sitharaman in budget speech
NEW DELHI: Agricultural markets must be liberalized and the government proposes to stop farmers, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said Saturday.
In presenting the budget for 2020-21, Sitharaman said the government proposes a 16-point action plan to boost agriculture and farmers' welfare.
Sitharaman said agricultural services need large investments, adding that the government has secured 6.11 crore farmers under Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojna.
Everything we do, we talk through the budget, everything the government does is for the country, he said.
