After the launch of Kalakshetra no, TM Krishna presents a book in Kerala

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: After Chennai denied him permission to release his book Sebastian and Sons: A Brief History of Makers in his auditorium, the carnatic vocalist and social activist T M Krishna presented on Friday in Thiruvananthapuram at the International Festival of Letters Ka - Mathrubhumi.

“I believe lost a wonderful opportunity to be a part of the attempt to celebrate the lives of Mridangam makers. It’s their loss,” he said. Kalakshetra withdrew permission for the launch after Krishna published excerpts from the book , which cited beef-eating practices in the Vedic period and the killing and skinning of cows for making played by Brahmins. The foundation pointed out that the content of the book would instigate political, cultural and social disharmony, and asserted that as an institution under the Union ministry of culture, it has to keep away from such controversies.

The official launch will be held at the Asian College of Journalism in Chennai on February 2, said Krishna. “I see this book as a celebration of people… a celebration of Mridangam makers. It’s a complicated book ... a book which will trouble people of privileged classes, especially Brahmins... But I don’t see a problem in anything I have said in this book . These are things we need to think about,” he said.
