Skoda Auto establishes software centers to support the India 2.0 project

MUMBAI: The important European car Skoda Auto announced on Friday the creation of dedicated development centers in Pune and Gurugram in addition to a DigiLab in Pune to support the 'India 2.0' project of Skoda Auto Volkswagen.

The DigiLab in Pune is the fourth in the world by the company after Prague (Czech), Bejing and Tel Aviv, according to a statement.

The innovation center in India will work closely with the other three centers in all geographies, he said.

The Skoda DigiLab is an ideas workshop whose objective is to advance the development of pioneering connectivity and mobility services, while the software development center will support the global IT requirements and the group's digital solution.

Both are an integral part of the India 2.0 project, a market strategy led by Skoda Auto for everything Volkswagen Group in the Indian market, according to the statement.

The India 2.0 project, which involves an investment of Rs 8,000 million, aims to strengthen its presence in the national market with specific car models from India through a dedicated platform.

With Skoda Auto DigiLab, we are constantly expanding our global network. India is among the drivers of innovation when it comes to digitalization.

Most of our clients in India have grown up with smartphones and expect customized mobility services and connectivity without interruptions in the car. This is exactly what we are undertaking in our new igiLab in partnership with local high-tech companies, Skoda Auto CEO, said in the statement.

DigiLab will support the core business by developing digital and mobility solutions, while the software development solution established by Private Limited to support Skoda's IT requirements worldwide and develop digital solutions.

The services as well as digital and mobility solutions developed by the two new units will benefit all Volkswagen Group brands --Volkswagen, Skoda, Audi, Porsche and Lamborghini -- in India, it added.

The dedicated Software Development Centre with offices in Gurugram and Pune will develop programme applications and digital solutions that create an even more diverse customer experience for car buyers in India and is working for all of the Volkswagen Group brands present on the Indian market, as per the release.
