Jawan arrested for delivering a parcel bomb at BSF camp in J&K's Samba
JAMMU: A BSF jawan, who is said to be an expert in handling explosives, was arrested in connection with the delivery of a parcel bomb at his camp in Jammu and Kashmir earlier this month, official sources said Wednesday .
Samarpal, originally from Kolkata, was arrested at his residence in the Hubli area on January 10 and then arrested, they said.
The jawan has been arrested for interrogation and is still under investigation, the Senior Superintendent of Police, Samba, Shakti Pathik, told PTI.
He refused to disclose more details.
On January 5, a package containing an (IED) was delivered to the headquarters of Battalion 173 of the Border Security Force (BSF) in Samba, police said.
It was addressed to second in command Gurvinder Singh, who suspected about it and informed the bomb disposal squad, they said.
According to sources, a case was recorded in several sections of the Explosive Substances Act and an investigation was initiated that led to the arrest of.
The sources said that Samarpal is an expert in the handling of explosive substances and it is believed that he prepared the IED since he wanted to take revenge on his assistant commander for a problem.
They had left the parcel bomb at the front door of the camp before going home, they said.
