Bihar: HIV positive woman raped on the train, two arrested
PATNA: A 22-year-old woman was allegedly raped in a train car in Bhabhua in the Kaimur district on Monday night. Two men were arrested in this regard.
The incident came to light when a joint team of the railway protection force (RPF) and the government railway police (GRP) was looking for the trainers of Patna-Bhabua Intercity Express after their arrival around 11.50 p.m. of Monday.
Police personnel caught the two young people involved in the crime by keeping the woman hostage. Sasaram GRP SHO Lallu Singh said that while one was outraging his modesty, another was making a video of the crime. When they saw the police, the two began to flee, but one of them was caught. Later, the other culprit was also arrested.
The woman was returning from Patna after seeking medical advice from a doctor. The two young men had boarded the train in Kudra, which is the second last stop of the train.
The defendant, identified as Birendra Prakash Singh (26) and Deepak Singh (28) of Chayta under the area of the Kudra police station in the Kaimur district, confessed the crime. The defendants were brought before a local court, which kept them in judicial custody for 14 days, the SHO told this newspaper by phone.
The survivor was sent to Bhabhua Sadar hospital for a medical examination after registering her statement in court. “She was abandoned by her husband who had AIDS and died later. The doctors diagnosed him with HIV positive and was under the treatment of a doctor in Patna, ”said a research officer.
The officer also said that the woman was alone in the carriage. Bhabhua Road Station is the last destination of the train, which originates in Patna at 5.45 p.m.
