Pak police recover a minor Hindu girl
Five days after a 15-year-old Hindu girl was kidnapped, forcibly converted to Islam and married to a Muslim man, local police finally secured her custody on Monday. Ravi Dawani, the secretary general of All Pakistan Fancha Panchayat (APHP) told TOI by phone Karachi that the police had recovered the minor Hindu from the city of Garhi Yasin, 56 km from Jacobabad, in the province.
The girl was kidnapped by Ali Raza Machi, 28, who had divorced her two wives and had four children. Machi reportedly forced the girl to embrace Islam and married her in Dargah Amrot Sharif. Dawani said the girl is now in police custody in the Shikarpur district, a border district with Jacobabad. Cheering the police and the civil administration in Jacobabad for helping to restore the confidence of the Hindu community, he said police had arrested Machi. We expect the law to run its course and the culprits will be punished, he said.
