An 18-year-old US national pleads guilty to supporting LeT

WASHINGTON: An 18-year-old Wednesday, A National Of The United States Pleaded Guilty To The Charges Of Support And Recruitment Of Fighters For The Terrorist Group With Headquarters In Pakistan Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), Which Carried Out The Deadly Attack Mumbai Terrorist In 2008.

Michael Kyle Sewell, Of Fort Worth, Texas, Arrested In February, Admitted To Have Encouraged A Person, Identified In Court Records Only As Co-Inspirator 1, To Join The LeT.

He Now Faces Up To 20 Years In A Federal Prison And A Fine Of Up To $ 250,000. The Judgment Is Scheduled For August 12.

According To The Statement Of Fault, Sewell Provided The Co-conspirator, To Whom He Spoke On Social Media, Contact Information From A Person Who Believed It Could Facilitate The Co-conspirator's Trip To Pakistan To Join The LeT.

Without The Knowledge Of Sewell And The Coaspirator, The Facilitator Was An Undercover Agent Of The FBI.

Sewell And The Co-conspirator Discussed What The Co-conspirator Should Tell The Undercover Agent Who Was Made To Pass By The Facilitator, In Order To Gain The Trust Of The Facilitator And Be Allowed To Join The LeT.

He Also Contacted The Facilitator To Answer For The Co-conspirator's Authenticity And Told Both Of Them That He Would Kill The Co-conspirator If It Turned Out To Be A Spy.

The Co-conspirator Then Contacted The Facilitator And Made Arrangements To Travel To Pakistan.

In February, Sewell Was Accused By The FBI Of Using Social Networks To Recruit People In The Name Of The LeT And Send Them To Pakistan For Terrorist Training.

" We Stand On Constant Alert By Radicals Who Plan Attacks Against Citizens Of The United States, Here Or Abroad," US Attorney Nealy Cox Said In A Statement.

" The Struggle Against Terrorist Threats Is Our Top Priority, And We Will Continue Working To Stop The Flow Of Foreign Fighters Abroad And Bring Justice To Those Who Try To Provide Material Support To Foreign Terrorist Organizations" .

It Is Not Clear If Sewell Is Currently In Custody, Reported Fox4 News.

The LeT Is A World Terrorist Organization Designated By The UN And For The United States And It Has Carried Out Several Terrorist Attacks Within India, Including The Mumbai Terrorist Attacks In 2008 That Caught The Lives Of 166 People, Including Several Americans.

In 2013, A US Court UU Sentenced To David Coleman Headley, An American Of Pakistani Origin, At 35 Years In Prison For His Role In Attack Of Mumbai.
