7-year-old tribal boy strangled in the MP government shelter; 2 suspended

BHOPAL: The post mortem report of a 7-year-old boy found dead in a government Wednesday lodging house at Madhya Pradesh's Bhopal has revealed, after which a masterful investigation was ordered and two staff members of the facility were suspended.

Class I student, who lived with the older brother. Deepak (9) in a government lodging house in Patel Nagar here, was found unconscious in the bathroom and was declared dead on arrival at a nearby hospital, said Piplani police station in charge on Friday.

The post mortem report, which came out Thursday, revealed that it was strangled. A case has been registered and is being investigated to catch the authors, he told PTI.

Collector Tarun Pithode ordered a magisterial inquiry and suspended lodging house superintendent Rechal Ram and supervisor .

State Tribal Welfare Minister visited the lodging house on Friday and announced ex-gratia relief of Rs 2 lakh to the family of the deceased.

An investigation has begun and strict measures will be taken against the culprits, Markam told PTI.

Police said Suraj's father works in Sehore, about 40 kilometers from here.

"Suraj was admitted in the lodging house in July last year," an official said.
