Learn from the perseverance of RSS workers in voter diffusion: Sharad Pawar

PUNE: head of the PNC Sharad Pawar on Thursday he asked the workers of his party to take out a sheet of the book of volunteers and show perseverance in reaching the voters.

He was speaking at a meeting of party leaders and workers from the Pimpri-Chinchwad area near here.

I'm not saying we have to follow everything that RSS workers do, but we can certainly learn from their determination and persistence as we visit voters, he said.

Party workers should not feel discouraged because of the results of the Maharashtra assembly elections to be held in October and November, Pawar said.

Recalling his conversation with a BJP leader, Pawar said: He told me that the workers in his group go to people's houses and, if there is no one at home, they leave the party booklet at the door and leave.

But if an RSS worker working for the party (BJP) finds the door closed in the morning, he will return to visit that house at night. If it's still closed, he'll go to the same house the next morning and make sure he meets the people who live there and gives him the brochure, he said.

We do not need to follow them completely, but the way they show persistence in the development of public relations, I think persistence is very important, said the political veteran.

NCP workers should try to meet with all voters in their respective areas, he said.

Pawar also did an excavation on the prime minister Narendra Modi Meditation in a cave in Kedarnath before the last phase of the Lok Sabha polls.

We should see where the whole world is headed, where science is heading, but our Prime Minister (instead) prefers to go to a cave and meditate, said the former minister of the Union.

At a subsequent press conference, Pawar was asked about his refusal to attend the oath ceremony of Modi's new government, reportedly because he was offered a seat in the fifth row.

My secretary went to the president's office twice and, at the same time, was told that the 'V' on the pass meant the fifth row. Now a clarification has arrived (from the president's office) of what the VVIP row means ... For me, the chapter is closed, he said.
