CK Nayudu Trophy: Rahul Shah hits an undefeated ton while Gujarat takes a huge 364 run advantage
HYDERABAD: Gujarat was firmly in the driver's seat after taking a huge advantage of 364 runs in the first innings against Hyderabad in his Col CK Nayudu Trophy match at the Lalbhai Contractor Stadium in Surat on Tuesday.
On the stumps on the second day, Hyderabad was zero lossless with the openers Mohul Bhowmick & Junaid Ali Seeing through two overs without any damage. Hyderabad, who was shot 179 in the first innings, has a difficult task to save the game.
Resuming at their overnight score of 161 for two, Gujarat's undefeated pair Rahul V Shah & MA Hingrajia continued to punish the Hyderabad bowlers. Rahul, who resumed at 54, was at his best as he toyed with the rival attack. He got his 100 off 188 balls.
Hingrajia too kept pace with his skipper & reached his 100 off 175 balls. The duo added 252 for the third wicket before Hingrajia was caught by Chandan Sahani off Rathan Teja after making 115 off 194 balls with 12 hits to the fence.
Rahul continued to frustrate the Hyderabad bowlers & with Het proving an able foil they piled on the runs. Rahul reached his double century off 304 balls. The duo added 153 for the fourth wicket before Lokesh Gait had Het caught by Mickil Jaiswal for 61 (85b; 6x4, 2x6).
Gujarat finally declared their innings closed at 543 for five with Rahul remaining unconquered on 251. His marathon innings spanned 348 balls & he struck 24 fours & a six.
