BJP will unleash its main leaders in support of the CAA campaign

LUCKNOW: The national leaders of BJP will hold public demonstrations in the UP to boost support for the amended citizenship law. The demonstrations will be organized in the six regions of the state - Braj, Awadh, Kanpur-Bundelkhand, Paschim, Kashi and - from January 18 to 23.

It is seen as BJP's attempt to counteract the opposition attack that described CAA as unconstitutional and divisive.

UP BJP sources said the party plans to organize demonstrations by the BJP chief Amit Shah in the Kashi region, while BJP national labor president JP Nadda is expected to address a rally in Agra under the Braj region. Minister of Defense Rajnath Singh will hold the fort in Meerut in the Paschim region.

Sources said the Union textile minister and deputy Amethi and former deputy CM Shivraj Singh Chauhan may also be invited to participate in demonstrations. The idea is to counteract the Opposition, which is deceiving people about the name of the new citizenship law, UP BJP Vice President JPS Rathore told TOI. He said the program of the main leaders of BJP is being finalized and will be announced soon.

The CM minister is already addressing demonstrations in UP and other states in CAA. After a demonstration in Gwalior, he will now head to Gaya (Bihar) on Tuesday, before joining BJP's high command in conducting the UP campaign.

BJP state workers are also conducting a door-to-door campaign in favor of amended citizenship law. Its objective is to cover 50,000 villagers under several gram panchayats.
