Why butchers in Delhi, Hyderabad have a high level of infection
HYDERABAD: The National Research Center On Meat (NRCM), Which Is Screened In Hyderabad And New Delhi, Stated That It Has 5-8% Of Them Like Brucellosis.
SB Barbuddhe, Principal Investigator Of NRCM Research, Said:" We Screened Butchers For The Two Zoonotic Diseases And Discovered That 5% Of Them Had Anti-brucellosis And 7-8% Anti-leptospirosis. Infection Were Exposed. We Are Now Going To Perform Screening Of Butchers In Tamil Nadu And Maharashtra."
Scientists Studying Zoonoses At Butchers In Slaughterhouses And Meat-selling Stores Said That Infections Can Spread To The Family Members Of Butchers And Consumers. No Fewer Than 150 Blood Samples Were Collected By NRCM Scientists And Tested In The Context Of The Project To Assess The Zero Prevalence Of Risks To Workers' Health And Food Safety In Butcher's Shops.
NRCM Received Ethical Permission To Collect Human Samples From The Institutional Ethical Committee Of Kamineni Academy Of Medical Sciences And Research Center, Hyderabad. Research Also Collected Data On Personal Hygiene And Other Epidemiological Information. Five (5.49%) Samples Were Positive For Antibodies Against Brucellosis By Rose Bengal Plate Test And ELISA.
" Leptospirosis Spreads Through Rodents And Mice Near Shops Selling Meat, Because Rodent Urine Spreads It. We Supplied Aprons And Gloves To Bitchers, But Most Of Them Refused To Use Them," Barbuddhe Said.
It Was Determined During The Investigation That None Of Them Had Previously Conducted Tests For Zoonotic Diseases." According To The FSSAI Rules, The Company Or Government Agency That Employs Them Must Perform Regular Medical Checks, But It Does Not. Slaughterhouses Do It Too Not" , Barbuddhe Said. Researchers Also Found Skin Infections In People Who Handle Sheep." When The Animal Is Slaughtered, The Meat Becomes Contaminated When It Touches The Ground. In Most Stores Selling Meat, They Do Not Clean The Floor Properly. Food-borne Diseases Are Likely To Occur." The Case That A Buyer Consumes Such Meat. Storage Is Another Major Problem. With Their Dirty Clothes, Butchers Go Home, Hitting Their Children And Other Family Members," Barbuddhe Said.
The Research Also Showed That Butchers Injured Their Hands And Fingers, Including Amputation, But These Are Not Treated Properly.
