Ranji Trophy: Tamil Nadu wins three points of the game tied against UP

KANPUR: Tamil Nadu got three points based on his first inning after the Elite Group B match in the Ranji Trophy against Uttar Pradesh ended in a draw on Monday.

The game was balanced when UP resumed the fourth and last day in the Green Park Stadium in 170 for 9, needing 11 more races to review the total of the first entries of Tamil Nadu.

However, the 28-year-old middle runner of Tamil Nadu, T Natarajan (4 by 24) quickly represented rival captain Ankit Rajpoot (2) when the hosts were eliminated by 175, with visitors snatching the most important advantage.

In her second rehearsal, the left arm orthodox spinner UP Saurabh Kumar (5-39) turned a net around the TN hitters while the visitors plummeted to 154.

To the south side, Baba Aparajith (53) knocked down half a century, while Captain Vijay Shankar (28) was the second leading scorer.

Other hitters, including starters V Ganga Sridhar (1) and L Suryapprakash (2), failed when UP bowlers wreaked havoc.

Kumar was supported by Rajpoot (3-39) and Rinku Singh (2-11).

UP set an ambitious goal of 160 races for an absolute victory. UP openers Rinku Singh (27) and Souls Shaukat (14 did not come out) added 41 runs for the first wicket before Natarajan returned the first.

Natarajan also ruled out Mohammed Saif (0) at the same time. However, the bad light stopped the game, closing the process.

TN won three points for securing the ticket advantage for the first time this season. Uttar Pradesh had to be content with a lonely point.

Meanwhile, in Dharamshala, the Madhya Pradesh game against Himachal Pradesh ended in a draw with the former earning three points courtesy of his first inning. HP had to be content with a lonely point.

In the next round, TN will face Mumbai national heavyweights in Chennai from January 11, while UP plays against Baroda in Kanpur.
