Outstanding athletes condemn the attack on UN students
New Delhi, January 6 () The main athletes of India, including former Indian starter Gautam Gambhir and Grand Slam winner Rohan Bopanna, condemned the attacks of an unidentified mafia on students and professors of the Jawaharlal Nehru University on Sunday.
Violence broke out inside the JNU campus on Sunday night when masked men armed with sticks attacked students and teachers and damaged property on campus, which led the administration to call the police that conducted a flag march.
Such violence on the university campus is completely against the spirit of this country. No matter what the ideology or mentality, students cannot be attacked in this way. The strictest punishment must be imposed on these thugs who have dared to enter the University, Gambhir, MP MP winner of the World Cup, tweeted.
The former and versatile extrovert from India, Irfan Pathan, said such incidents do not help the country's image.
What happened yesterday at JNU is not a regular incident. Students who are attacked by the armed mafia on the University campus, in the shelters, are as damaged as they can. This is not helping the image of our country, Pathan wrote on his Twitter page.
Senior Davis Cupper and former French Open Mixed Doubles champion Bopanna wrote: Horrible and shameful what happened at #JNU, the people responsible for this should be punished.
Indian doubles specialist Jwala Gutta also tweeted a couple of times. Are we all going to be still? See how it happens to our students? Why were the guilty not captured and charged? Why were the (sic) escorted outside the university? KHS PM PM
