Some 700 police officers deployed in front of the UN doors one day after the violence.

NEW DELHI: One day after violence broke out on campus, about 700 police officers were deployed on Monday outside their doors, police said.

Police said the big deployment was done to maintain law and order.

Violence broke out at Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) on Sunday night when masked men armed with sticks and rods attacked students and teachers and damaged property on campus, which led the administration to call the police who conducted a flag march.

At least 28 people, including the president of the JNU Student Union, Aishe Ghosh, were injured while chaos reigned on campus for almost two hours.
