KOTTAYAM: A court in Kottayam on Monday suspended the hearing on the charges in the case of violation of nuns until January 25. The Bishop was not present in court. It was Judge G of the additional District 1 Court, Gopakumar, who admitted the request for an excuse filed by the Bishop's attorney seeking time for a hearing on charges. Although the lawyer looked for time until next month, the case was postponed until the 25th of this month.
The bishop had appeared before the court when the case was considered on November 30, 2019, when the bond was extended. The trial will only begin after completing the hearing on the charge sheet.
The nun had filed a complaint with the boss about 2014-16 on June 27, 2018. The next day, June 28, the nun's statement was also recorded.
The charge sheet in the case of rape of nuns was filed on April 9, 2019. Bishop Franco Mulakkal, who faces charges of rape, unnatural sex and criminal intimidation in the case, can obtain life imprisonment or imprisonment of not less 10 years if proven guilty. .
