Interior Minister Amit Shah speaks with Delhi LG; asks you to call JNU representatives to talk
NEW DELHI: Minister of the Interior of the Union Amit Shah On Monday, he spoke with Delhi Anil Baijal and asked him to call representatives of the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) to discuss, authorities said. The telephone conversation between the Interior Minister and the LG came a day after masked men surrendered to violence on the JNU campus.
The Interior Minister spoke with the LG and asked him to start talks with representatives of the UN, said an official.
Yesterday, the house minister spoke with Chief Amulya Patnaik and ordered an investigation into the incident.
The interior ministry has sought a report from the Delhi police.
Violence broke out in JNU on Sunday night when masked men armed with sticks and bars attacked students and teachers and damaged property on campus, which led the administration to call the police that conducted a flag march.
At least 28 people, including the president of the JNU Student Union, Aishe Ghosh, were injured because chaos prevailed on campus for almost two hours.
