RR Bhatnagar will be the third advisor to Jammu and Kashmir LG GC Murmu

NEW DELHI: Former IPS official, who retired as DG CRPF last week, will be the third advisor to LG GC Murmu. He will join the two existing LG advisors, former IAS officer Kewal Kumar Sharma and retired officer Farooq Khan.

Bhatnagar, who led the CRPF when it was repealed in the former state of Jammu and Kashmir and during the subsequent bifurcation of the state in two territories of the Union, is likely to advise Murmu on matters related to law and order, counter-terrorism operations and the deployment of forces.

The Ministry of Interior approved the appointment of Bhatnagar as an advisor to Jammu and Kashmir LG until further orders. The appointment will take effect from the date you take office.

The former governor of Jammu and Kashmir had five advisors: former IPS officer K Vijay Kumar, former IAS officers K Skandan and Khurshid Ganai, in addition to K K Sharma and Farooq Khan. His term ended with the transfer of Malik to Goa Raj Bhavan. Since then, Vijay Kumar has been appointed principal security advisor in the Ministry of Interior of the Union, a position he previously held.
