Krithika Subramanian's NAVA is a bold new approach for Bharatanatyam

The talented dancer Krithika Subramanian and Namaargam Dance Company recently presented NAVA at Kartik Fine Arts. A group presentation with Krithika, Nandini Murali, Sachhidanand, Sonam Vora and Gautham Marathe, is a bold new approach to presenting the Bharatanatyam tradition.

Krithika, also renowned architect and designer, says: With NAVA, we seek to exploit the myth that an audience needs detailed explanations about the pieces performed in Margam, the traditional repertoire of classical dance.

Formed in the pure lineage of the Tanjavur Pandanallur Bar of Bharatanatyam under the tutelage of Padmashri Dr. Sudharani Raghupathi, Krithika has acted extensively since 2015. She has played leading roles in many of her guru's productions and her own choreography.

Our choreography and the power of our performance communicate the ideals of classicism to the initiated and not initiated equally, he says and signs.
