LeT terrorist arrested from Srinagar SMHS hospital
SRINAGAR: police arrested a 23-year-old Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorist, Nisar Ahmad Dar, of Srinagar At Shri Maharaja Hospital (SMHS) late Friday. Allegedly, Dar was at the facility to take refuge during the night before carrying out a terrorist attack in the city, according to sources. He was accompanied by some assistants, who managed to escape. The police are looking for them.
A close associate of LeT commander Saleem Parray, aka Billa, Dar has had a long history of terrorist crime records: since 2014 at least 10 cases have been registered against him in Hajin and Gund.
Calling the arrest a breakthrough made possible by a joint team of security personnel, including the J&K police special operations group, DGP said: Dar was wanted by law for his complicity in a series of terrorist crimes, including attacks on security establishments and civil atrocities ”. Weapons, ammunition and incriminating material were also recovered from his possession, he added.
Originally from Parray Mohalla in the Hajin area of the Bandipora district, Dar used to operate in the Nadihal, Hajin, Saderkot and Sumbal areas of the Bandipora district and in the Kangan, Kullan areas of the Ganderbal district. He was also part of the teams responsible for planning and executing attacks against security establishments in the area in addition to civil atrocities, DGP Singh said.
According to police, Dar was part of a LeT team operating in the Kullan village of Ganderbal district and had been injured in a meeting in the area on November 12, 2019, in which a Pakistani terrorist, identified as Khalid aka Zargam, was killed. DGP said. The terrorist Lashkar was previously arrested twice, in 2016 and 2017, according to the Public Security Law, he added.
