Rajasthan: Lok Sabha Speaker and Kota MP Om Birla meets relatives of the deceased
JAIPUR Lok Sabha Speaker and Kota MP met on Saturday with relatives of babies who lost their lives at JK Lon Hospital.
I met some families of the babies who died at the JK Lon hospital. We are with these families in this hour of pain, Birla said at a press conference.
He also added that he has written to the prime minister twice Ashok Gehlot suggesting several steps to improve medical facilities.
The reason why (the babies' families) went to see a government hospital is because their financial situation is not good and they expected good medical treatment in government hospitals, he said.
He also stressed that there is a need to improve infrastructure and facilities in many hospitals.
There is a need to improve facilities in government hospitals. I have extended my support to the Rajasthan government to meet the infrastructure requirements so that we can save babies in the future, Birla said.
He also announced that he will provide machinery and equipment worth around Rs 50 lakh that are urgently required in the hospital.
According to the authorities, the death toll rose to 107 on Saturday at the hospital, after a child died in the morning.
