Army officer among four injured in J&K landmine explosion

JAMMU: Four staff members, including a lieutenant, two havaldars and one, were injured in an explosion of a land mine along the Control Line (LoC) in the Kalal area of ​​the Nowshera sector at J&K on Friday.

Security personnel patrolled the border when the land mine exploded, an official said. The injured were immediately transferred to Udhampur Command Hospital, where they are under treatment. His condition is said to be stable, the official added.

In a similar explosion on February 16, 2019, Major Chitresh Singh Bisht was killed and another soldier was injured along the LoC in the Nowshera sector of the Rajouri district. Commander Bisht, who led a bomb disposal squad during a disinfection operation, suffered critical injuries while neutralizing a mine that accidentally activated and exploded. Then he succumbed.
