India-Sri Lanka T20I will be a general rehearsal for the IPL games of Rajasthan: Cricket Association of Assam
GUWAHATI: The Assam Cricket Association will use the T20I India-Sri Lanka on Sunday as a curtain lift, before organizing two matches at the home of Rajasthan Royals this season.
Rajasthan Royals, who have retained the local lad Riyan Parag for the upcoming season, have already confirmed that they would play at least two of their home games at the Barsapara Stadium , which makes it the first place in the northeast region that hosts a IPL accessory since the start of the league in 2008.
So the ACA wants to create an IPL like atmosphere for Sunday's international fixture.
We will not leave stone without moving for it to succeed. We will have DJs and there will be fireworks that will make it a vibrant night. People will really enjoy the game, ACA secretary Devajit Saikia told PTI.
The situation in the region had also returned to normal after widespread protests against the Citizenship Amendment Bill, as curfew was imposed for more than a week in December.
But the situation is completely normal now and we don't need additional security forces. We are providing general security coverage like the one provided for any other international party in Guwahati. The state government is providing complete security measures regarding traffic movements and crowd management, he said.
So far, ACA Stadium in Barsapara has hosted two international matches: first a T20I in 2017 when India lost to Australia and the last one was an ODI with the local team chasing the more than 300 more than 43 West Indies.
