ED questions P Chidambaram in the case of UPA era aviation scam

NEW DELHI: former Union finance minister P Chidambaram He was questioned on Friday by the ED regarding his money laundering investigation of alleged aviation-related events that allegedly occurred during the UPA dispensation, authorities said.

Chidambaram's statement was registered under the Money Laundering Prevention Act (PMLA), they said.

The case refers to alleged losses suffered by Indian air due to the supposed multireductions and irregularities in the fixing of the air slots for international airlines.

The investigation of the Directorate of Execution (ED) in this case is also related to the purchase of 111 aircraft, which cost around Rs 70,000 crore, for the national airline.
