You can definitely find inconveniences in any hospital, it is not necessary to politicize the death of babies in Kota: CM Gehlot

JODHPUR: Prime Minister Ashok Gehlot On Friday he said that the issue of the deaths of babies in Kota should not be 'politicized' and that there would be some inconveniences in different hospitals that the media have the right to highlight so that the government can improve them.

When asked about the lack of basic hygiene inside the ICU, where more than 100 babies recently died in a hospital in Kota, Gehlot said: You will definitely find some inconvenience when visiting any hospital across the country. I think that if and when we are informed about the lack of facilities inside a hospital, we will work to solve it.

He also said that the government intends to reduce the infant mortality rate to a minimum in the state and it is said that even if only one baby dies.

It is extremely sad even if a baby dies. We want the infant mortality rate (IMR) and the maternal mortality rate (MMR) to be reduced in Rajasthan. This problem should not be politicized. Lok sabha Speaker Om Birla is a deputy from Kota and has all the knowledge on the matter, so the day he talks about it, the problem will end, Gehlot said.

Gehlot added that during the BJP period, about 1,000 babies used to die in a year, but in the current government period, the count has reached around 900.

The health minister does not need to visit Kota today, but the media has solved a problem, so he has to leave. As soon as the incident came to light, expert teams were sent there and a detailed investigation was also carried out. There was no negligence in the treatment. Babies died during the BJP term and during our period, the mortality rate was reduced, he added.

On January 2, a hospital official in Kota said three more children died in the first two days of the New Year, which brought the figure to 103.

As per a government report, at least 91 infants lost their lives at the government hospital in Kota in December last year, following which Ashok Gehlot -led Congress government is being targetedted by the BJP and other opposition parties in the state.
