Natyaanan busy with three productions

A-Pabitra has been one of Natyaanan's most successful theater productions. Directed by Chandan Sen , the play features two iconic actors: Asit Basu and Sabyasachi Chakrabarty . With the other group members, including Shantilal Mukherjee Rwitobroto Mukherjee and Chandan himself, the group has recently organized another home show in Uttarpara . The work will be presented again at the Academy of Fine Arts on January 2.

Meanwhile, the team is also busy with their recent game, Archimedes-er Mrityu. Written by Nabyendu Sen, the play was staged by the writer about 20 years ago. Chandan and his team took him to the stage as the production of his year.

“I think the work is still relevant. So, we don't change the script. The work focuses on how the state often exploits science and, instead of using it for the benefit of ordinary people, it is used as a tool for mass destruction, Chandan said.

In addition to all its proscenium productions, the group is busy with its intimate space, Offstage, in Kanad Mancha, near Rashbehari. Recently, they have adapted one of their proscenium works, Ganesh Gatha, for intimate theater.

Ganesh Gatha is a 100-minute play that features Shantilal Mukherjee, Rwitobroto Mukherjee and others. “Harimadhav Mukhopadhyay’s Ganesh Gatha is a social satire in the guise of a comedy. Chandan kaka has been trying to give it an offstage touch. At Kanad Mancha, we have made provisions so that the audience could sit on three sides of the stage. We staged Ganesh Gatha there, ”said Rwitobroto.
