Sri Lanka Air Force plane crashes, killing the 4 on board

COLOMBO: A plane crashed on Friday and killed the four crew members on board, an air force spokesman said.

The accident happened in the Haputale district on the island Montana regions, about 200 kilometers (124 miles) east of the capital, said air force spokesman Captain Gihan Seneviratne.

Among the dead were two pilots and two crew members aboard the Y-12 aircraft built in China, which was on an observation mission, Seneviratne said.

It was not immediately clear what caused the accident.
