Mehbooba's daughter could not visit southern Kashmir
JAMMU: Iltija Mufti, daughter of former J&K Prime Minister Mehbooba Mufti On Thursday, he was unable to travel to Bijbehara in the Anantnag district, in southern Kashmir, to visit the grave of his grandfather Mufti Mohammed Sayeed. Iltija, who lives mainly in Delhi, had come to Srinagar in the last week of December.
Alleging that he had been prevented from moving from his mother's residence on Gupkar Road, Iltija said: “I approached interested authorities to obtain permission to visit my grandfather's mausoleum in southern Kashmir, but the same was denied. Now I have decided to move to the court since the anniversary of my grandfather's death is celebrated on January 7.
In addition, he said he wanted to go to the media on Thursday, but was not allowed to do so.
Iltija, who has been handling Mehbooba’s Tweeter account ever since the detention of the latter following the abrogation of J&K’s special status on August 5 last year, is now staying in the official bungalow of her mother on Gupkar Road. She has been provided Special Security Group (SSG) cover under Z-plus category after she traveled to Srinagar.
According to official sources, Iltija, who regularly visits her mother at the government guest house on Maulana Azad Road, where she was arrested, had asked SSG security men to make arrangements for her visit to her grave grandfather. However, the SSG men advised him not to go south of Kashmir for security reasons, a senior police officer said on condition of anonymity.
The officer said that when Iltija tried to leave her mother's official bungalow to travel south of Kashmir, her security guards stopped her and asked her to stay inside. She has not been arrested or arrested, he added.
He will be allowed to go anywhere other than South Kashmir because the government is worried about his safety, the officer said.
Two other former CMs - and their son Omar Abdullah - They are also under arrest. While Farooq is detained in his private home on Gupkar Road, Omar is staying at Hari Niwas Palace in the same area.
