More than 5,000 vehicles stranded on the Jammu-Srinagar road due to landslides: officials

JAMMU: More than 5,000 vehicles are stranded in the last two days due to, officials said Thursday.

Landslides were reported on Thursday from Karol in Chanderkot, near the Jaiswal Bridge, and from Digdol on Wednesday.

More than 5,000 vehicles have been stranded in different places on the road and fresh traffic is not allowed, officials said.

Of these 2,500 heavy vehicles and 1,000 light vehicles (LMV) are stranded between Digdol and the Jawahar tunnel. About 70 LMVs have been stranded on Ramban since Wednesday night, they said.

Although the agencies involved have been busy clearing the landslides since dawn, today it will be very difficult to clear the road for traffic, officials said.
